Attachment

Attechment, when people first hear that word their minds go to physical attechment, well thats not wat i mean im talking about emotional attachment between people this might be irrelivant to this computer class blog but to the individuals in the class i think it is highly relivant. Gettting attached to people is something that we as humans do frequently and easily , im not saying its bad but its something that people should do wisely especially if the people involved are of the opposite sex.
Your hearts are the most important parts of your body and it maintains all the functions of the other oarts of your body, messing with your heart emotionally ist somthing people should do. I guess what im trying to say is that what ever we do that has to do with enmotions and feelings we should do it with care hearts and emotions should not be messed with.

More reasons why women shouldnt serve in the military

Women might be taken as prisoners of war, and might get raped. No prisoner of war is lucky, horrible things happen to people regardless of if the person is either male or female. What is being said here is that women don’t handle pain and suffering as much as men (not trying to be sexist), and it has also been documented that women have been raped. This in mostly for the sake of all the women who survive rape with courage.
Also women aren’t as strong as men, generally speaking it is true. But there are many of individual exceptions moreover its a fairly recent thing that girls joined sports teams. The next point that is about to be brought up is in a way irrelevant but still it should be brought up, women take too long to pee, this is almost impossibly silly. But, although there are devices now that let women go when they are in action it is not affordable by the military.

Should women serve int he military ?

Women argued that they deserved the same rights as men but this should not be in all cases, especially when it comes to the issue of serving in the military. Women shouldn’t be soldiers because most times they get pregnant and apart from the fact that it reduces man power it also costs the military a whole lot the argument of whether women should serve the military forgets the fact that women can’t be pregnant without men, and men are bound to work or serve in the military in one way or the other. Even in an all female military there are bound to be male workers which would still lead to pregnancy of women. This costs the military a lot of money and also endangers the lives of the unborn children.

Applications of gravity

Most of the applications of gravity have not yet been experimentally proven for example the idea of a time machine simply sounds ridiculous but theoretically it seems like a good idea. The main problem with the time machine aspect is the lack of the materials like the environment needed for the shell method is not possible here on earth.
Even the twin paradox setup is practically not possible because nothing could move as fast as the speed of light although the sound barrier has been broken the speed require for the twin paradox setup is by far faster than the speed of sound at least 3 quarter that of the speed of light. Not all of the applications are theoretical the application of the equations derived from the gravitational field is one of them they have been used to solve so many problems involving gravitational fields. In the preparation of astronauts for space travel gravity is well used because the forces of gravity vary depending on the planet and for a person to perform or work in those conditions they have to be trained and taken through certain preparatory training exercises.
As the weakest of all the fundamental forces but yet the most important and most applied gravity and its applications have helped us to understand our universe and our immediate environment more and without the knowledge of it many inventions today would not be possible.

Application of gravity: training astronauts in space

Training astronauts for missions in space
Before a person is sent into space he has to go through a series of training exercises that will make them find out if the person is fit enough to withstand the conditions of travelling to space. It is also used in preparing the person for some of the conditions in space. For example if a person were to be preparing for a trip to mercury or Venus they would need to undergo a series of training exercises that would help prepare them for the conditions there.
Here on earth the surface gravity is 1.00 mean while in  mercury it is 0.375  so if a person were to go to mercury there would be a considerable difference in the gravitational pull so in order to be ready or get used to the conditions in mercury the person would have to go through some preparatory exercises.

Gravitational Slingshot

Gravitational sling shot

The gravitational slingshot is when an object such as a space ship, a rocket, an asteroid or even a comet changes its speed and trajectory because of the gravitational pull of a planet. If an object passes near a planet, it will change direction but because of its initial velocity it will not pull into a planetary orbit. Instead the object will take small fraction of the orbital energy of the planet as it travels past. The planet will lose some amount of energy but it impossible to see sometimes because of the planets large mass. Many spacecrafts use the effect of the gravitational slingshot to increase their speed but the thing is that to do this the spacecraft must be flying close to the planet and it must be travelling in the opposite direction as the planets orbit around the sun. Even some space probes sometimes use the gravitational slingshot to propel them to high velocities.  For example, Voyager 2(a space probe launched in 1981) had a close flyby of

Saturn on the 27th of August in1981, which helped in slinging it toward its flyby of Uranus on the 30th of January in 1986.

Since gravity is a conservative force, it may seem strange that an object can achieve a net gain in speed due to a close encounter with a large gravitating mass.   We might imagine that the speed it gains while approaching the planet would be lost when receding from the planet.   However, this is not the case, as we can see from simple consideration of the kinetic energy and momentum, which shows how a planet can transfer kinetic energy to the spacecraft.

Application oc AI to Ship identification

Ship Identification:
The navy has a project that they are working on that has to do with the correct identification of ships from images. The accurate identification of ships in real time can be a very difficult thing. A prototype has been made that using AI technology helps the human interpret (make sense of, or give a meaning to) images of ships. The system has been tested on more than 100 images of 10 similar classes of ships, and it got the correct identification 84 percent of the time. Getting the correct identification of the ships can be a really difficult task. The aim is to identify the ships within a few minutes of detection. To any normal person, identification of ships seems really easy but there are thousands of classes of ships used by the Navy, so it makes it very hard for a human to identify them. The images are hard to read because of many reasons such as weather, turbulence, lightning interference, and viewing angle. All these things joined with the fact that there thousands of classes of ships that sail the sea, makes it hard for humans to make accurate decisions so we can understand why there is a need for us to this system.

Application of AI to game playing

Game playing: Ever since the beginning of AI, there has been an issue about facing a computer against a human being. A match was set where a computer and a human being were to face off in a game of chess, the human being the world's best chess player at that time. To every one’s surprise the computer beat the human being, which then brought about one of the most popular questions in the history of AI which was “can computers think ?” this question will still be revisited later in this project. People can buy machines that can play master level chess for just a few hundred dollars the main question is whether there are any forms AI in them, yes of course form the definition of AI it is clear that there is but they play well against people mainly through high speed computations they look at hundreds of thousand possible positions to play. To beat a world champion the computer should be able to look at over 200 million positions per second.

Exper System

What is an expert system?
Some people say that an expert system is a computer program that simulates the judgement and behaviour of a human or an organisation and behaviour of a human or an organisation that has expert knowledge and experience. But simply put this is a software system that has 2 basic components: a knowledge base and an inference engine (inference being the act of getting a conclusion based solely on what one already knows). The system mimics an experts reasoning process. (The expert system was defined in this project mainly because it will be mentioned in this project)

Artificial Intelligence

What is artificial intelligence?
Artificial intelligence has different meanings to different people depending on the way the person looks at it and the area that person deals in. To John McCarthy, who is in the computer science department at Stanford university and one of the founders of the field of Artificial intelligence defines it as the science and engineering of making intelligent machines, especially intelligent computer programs. In a way it is similar to the using of computers to understand human intelligence but AI does not have to do with the biological part of it. The invention of artificial intelligence will help humans in many ways.

E-Waste

This weeks post is about E-waste, which is all about the disposal of electronic devices or hardware called E-waste. It can also be defined as the disposal of telecommunication equipment.Sure it sounds like an everyday thing but it is seriously becoming a major environment issue.Every where you go people are throwing away old computer monitors, key boards, scanners, and other electronic equipment.Disregarded electronic waste is accumulating at an alarming rate world wide.
According to Environment Canada,Canadians threw out an estimated 167,000 tonnes of E-waste in 2002 and the amount was estimated to increase by 2010 to about 206,000 tonnes. Disposal of electronic equipment should not be a problem normally, but the thing is that most of them contain harmful substances that are very dangerous to the environment. A major example is the computer monitor which contain cathode rays that use lead oxide. Another cause leads to Moore's law which was made by one of the founders of Intel Gordon Moore, which says that the number of transistors and resistors placed in a computer chip would double every year with proportional increase in the computing power and a decrease in cost this is also a cause because the rate at which computers become obsolete is increasing and the rate at which people throw or dispose of computer parts is increasing and instead of people buying new parts people throw away their computer parts. The worst part of all of this is that a majority of the worlds population are unaware of the situation this is also a cause because those that are unaware will keep on diposing of these E-wastes without realy knowing that what they are doing is very dangerous to the society.

Hey Henry

Ive searched for the parts that i think you should get, but I wasn't not quite sure if you would like or want the parts i got for Intel so I got the parts for both Intel and AMD. Both the Intel and AMD processors came with heat sinks so i don't think it will be necessary for you to get a heat sink although if your interested you could probably get one with a universal socket from www.frozencpu.com but like i said before i don't think that would be necessary.
For the AMD parts the features of the motherboard are: ASUS M2A-VM HDMI Socket AM2 AMD 690G Chip set ATI X1250 GPU Dual VGA 6-CH Audio Fire wire Dual Channel DDR2 800/667/533 Micro ATX i found at www.canadacomputers.com for $80.99
